knock sensors

Hopefully somebody won't call me stupid but if your knock sensor was unplugged would your engine performance be poor.

knock sensors

Basically , the Knock Sensor retards the timing when it detects the pinging for instance going up a hill , anytime the engine is under load . Having it unplugged would prevent it from doing what I have described . What engine are you referring to ? I assume you noticed some pinging ?

knock sensors

The engine is 5.0 in a 87 F150. The problem was when my friend put a new engine in his truck we couldn't find out were one electrical connector went. We proceeded in looking at the old block and found the Knock senser still screwed into the block. Therefore is new engine doesn't have a knock sensor. The reason i'm asking is the new engine doesn't perform the way it should. It doesn't make any noises but it just ain't got the get up and go that it should.
