I was hoping someone could help me with this. I have a 2003 expedition with rear air conditioning. When I turn it on, I can feel air coming out in the ducts aiming towards the third row, but the ducts aiming towards the second row, have absolutely no air coming out, even when I close all the other vents at full blast. I just purchased my car two weeks ago, and just had a aftermarked overhead DVD system installed. It may just be a coincidence, but it seemed to stop blowing the air after the DVD was installed. Is there any way that during the installation the AC ducts became obstructed?
Seeing as how air is coming of the third row vents, we know that the mode is set for air to come out of the top vents. So I would take it to the dealer to see if something happened during the DVD installation. During that installation, I think that the ceiling has to be dropped so, something could have been flipped or bumped to obstruct the air flow. It's probably definitely something mechanical right there at the second row seats in the ceiling since air is coming in the third row. Not a big deal to worry about, but I would take it in and have them drop the ceiling to see if anything occurred during the DVD installation.
Update: Thanks for your reply. Last night I was messing with it trying to figure out what happened, and decided to take the DVD player off (there were only four screws). When I pulled it off, I found that the people who did the installation cut right through the ducts leading to the second row vents. I turned the air on, and sure enough it is blowing air straight into the body of the vehicle, missing the ducts for my second row vents entirely. These IDIOTS put the DVD player to far toward the back of the vehicle, would they have mounted it a few inches closer to the front, the ducts would have not been cut off. They said to take the car in and they would fix it (not sure how they'll do that after the ducts are gone).
