Greg that is a really bad mix.......suasage and egger, wine and nights? Man I did 7 years of 2 days 2 nights and 4 off. Screws you right up. Feel sick all the time, tired, indigestion.
Next week try beer instead of wine, you don't get so relaxed!!

or tequila........
Oh no, Tequila makes me cry. Let's not even go there
i dont know guys the wine might be good. if its red wine wouldnt it cancel out all the bad effects of the sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit? i hear its good for the heart! besides beer has too many carbs, especially if youre not getting the unleaded kind.
OK, I at least made it to the shop. ANd for my first beverage, I've opted for a caffeinated diet cola instead of the tempting cold beers :-)
I'd like to review a couple things since most of the gures have checked into this thread:
1. lifter preload- my plan is to do 1 cylinder at a time, turn the crank until either the intake or exh. valve is open, then adjust the other valve rocker until I cannot freely turn the pushrod then go 1/2 turn more.
2. The new torque converter- how can I make sure it's completely engaged? I mean, it's defeinitely on the splines and I've turned/pushed for several rotations. SO, I think it's there, I just want to make sure.
for those that yahoo IM, you might be able to check up on me with the webcam to see if I'm wrenching, drinking or sleeping. my Yahoo name is: GTEX1970
here I go...I hope to have this rascal driving by Saturday.
Good luck! I don't know much about torque convertors because I run a 4 spd.....sorry. But if you got it on the splines and rotated it with no problem it should be there. It can only go on so far....
Well, the valve train is reasonably well adjusted. I'm sure I'll be back in soon. There appears to be more threads showing on the adjuster studs than before. Maybe the new Erson stands are a little taller??
There does not appear to be any contact between the rockers and the new Cobra valve covers, when I rotate the crank by hand. Do you think that's likely to change at higher RPMs? the covers look great, and are of nice quality. They should hopefully stay sealed better than the old stamped steel Edelbrock covers.
the local parts store doesn't carry autolite plugs. So, I went with the AC/Delco...Might be blasphemy. But , I can go back to the autolites if desired later.
Greg....I just bought a new converter for my c6. The new converter has a drain plug and the old one did not. There is one extra hole in the flywheel for this plug to stick through. There's only one way it will work. Just something else to look for, I almost missed it.

It's not the flex-plate connection I'm worried about. On a C6, the input shaft and torque converter must be engaged correctly to spin the fluid pump. Otherwise, no go and you get to rebuild the tranny...Been there done that.
Greg your Valve train geometry better not change that much to het the covers if it doesnt now.....Did you run a few bolts down on the cover and try it??
I know when I put M/Ts on the 433" motor...I took some playdough looking stuff my friend had in the shop, and stuck it to the roof where I thought the closest clearance problem would be...ran the covers down and turned the crank over and over again to see if it left any witness marks on the playdough..and it didnt!!
