Screwey electronics?

Truck:84 250 300 t-18.

Problem: Electrical/ rado/lights/fog lamps.
Heres the oils i tried:
10W-30 (ran the type for a year and 3 months)
10W-40 (ran it for 100 miles/ one day)
5W-30 (running it now)

The catch... my electonics (self installed fog lights, reg lights, radio) tend to act up. 10W-40... my electronics went nuts. Lights dimmed BAD @ idle. Radio would not stay on and the pwr is a DIRECT battery hardwire w/fuses in radio and i broke the line to put one in. Didnt matter if one or all the electronics were on. they ***** themselfs. my TURN SIGNAL caused my radio to shut off!!!!

10W-30 electronics worded ok. had to have fog lights on for radio to work right. radio ok when all electronics on exept for the initial turn on, 1st brake w/ all on and 1st turn signal on.

5W-30 everything work like it should. WTF!!!!!

Is this a Ford thing, am I nuts or is it a lil of both????? I just dont understand how little differecnces in oild can have that much effect on my truck now if i went to 20W-50 or something... i see how. not 10W to 5W.

WOW, this is a first one on me. The oil you run should not have an affect on the radio and light and such, but a heavier/lighter oil will effect how the truck runs. Ideally you should be running 10w-30 in the summer and 5w-30 or 0w30 in the winter.

But this seems like it can be related to the distbutor from what i know. Exactly what is happening is beyond me.

its a long shot, a really long shot, but just maybe thicker oil could cause your engine to spin slower causing the alternator to also spin slower not charging properly or something, hell this might even work the other way to. light weight oil engine spins faster maybe?

that wouldn't be the problem, it could be causing drag on the distbutor, or there's an oil leak somewhere near a bunch of wires and the thinner oil is leaking worse and grounding the wires out orgrounding them to each other.

theres no oil leak thst i can see unless its like a drop every 5 days or something. its really wierd. im gonna run 5W-30 through his change and try 10 30 again. i told my dads buddies bout my prob and they laughed like no other. i geuss the only way to make em believers is to do have em ride in it w/ all 3 oils. its sooo flustering.
