I just saw a commercial for the Dodge Ram Daytona. What do you guys think of it? I think that it's funny that they have the wing on there so that it looks like the old Daytonas. I just noticed that it comes in 2x4 or 4x4.
I saw the commercial, but I paid more attention to the 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona. It is amazing that they produced something like that (and the 1970 Superbird) for the street! That's what the "old" Chrysler Corporation could do!
As far as the truck, I thought it looked good too, but seems to me the wing would get in the way trying to load anything tall. Maybe it is easily removable???
I love the daytona's and superbirds. I owned a 73 Roadrunner with a 440 for 16 years and did a lot of Mopar car shows and was involved with a local Mopar club, and there was usually 2 or 3 of the Super's and Daytona's at the bigger shows. The reason I bought a Ford and not Dodge was I just didnt like the way Dodge went with the trucks. I dont like the new body style (I cant stand what they did with the Dakota's either) and the Hemi I test drove didnt really impress me. The Cummins I really liked but just couldnt get past the body style, and the so called quad cab really disapointed me with its small rear doors, its not much more roomier than my club cab Ram. So after driving my dad's Crew Cab super duty, I went with the Powerstroke. I see all these new Dodge trucks with the old Scat Pack bumble bee paint on them, its just not the same, especially to someone like me who has spent alot of time around the original stuff they are takeing this from.
But it is still neat, I think. Dodge has a habit of producing cars that no other manufacurer would. Remember the Ford 500 concept car? It was awesome, but the production 500 is really plain-vanilla if you ask me. Now look at the 300 and the Magnum. I mean a chopped-roof hot rod station wagon from the factory! Even being a ford man all the way through, I have to give Dodge props for that one.
Polarbear- That's not a real Daytona. The rear window should be flush with the roof line. Look close, the tunnel window is still there. Looks like a wing added to a Charger to me.

I do like the car's, I think its great what they are doing with them. Dodge has come out with some great cars, Rear wheel drive V8 cars, arent those what alot of people were calling dead? When the new body Ram came out I thought I would see if it grew on me, but it didnt, I like the interior but that was about it, but to each his own. Thats what makes this country so great, choice's!

Sharp eyes. This guys asking $103,000 (no typo) for that car.
I am guilty. I like the way it looks. I wonder if it has the guts that it boasts.<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008_ZNxdm006BQUS' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_12_6.gif' alt='Ponder' border=0></a>
That Daytona is definitly a clone. As for Ford not really building cars the way Dodge does, (Love 'em or Hate 'em) I have heard that Ford is scared that if people don't like the new design they will just quit buying them. It seems that the germans really could care less if they run Chrysler into the ground but they aren't doing a very good job of it, The 300C and the Magnum are huge sellers as are the Dodge trucks, at least here anyway, it seems that the Dodges are continually out numbering the Fords and Chevs. Looking at the lot here proves that as well. I think it is almost to the point for them to be having another used vehicle liquidation actually, they have more of every other brand in stock then thier own vehicles LOL.
