The most important thing is to make sure your feeding the impact enough air.
I use 50' of 3/4" hose the difference between 1/2 and 3/4 hoses is unbelievable.
At the shop I use a 1 inch to feed my 1 inch impact.
SnapOn and Mac offer 1/2 impacts with torque at or above 1000#, these guns are hard on mandrels. I like 1/2'' impacts around 525# if I need more torque I use a 3/4" or 1" impact. As far as lubrication I've found most guys either do it more than necessary or not at all. Higher speed air tools natruraly need more oil than slower stuff. Most impacts once a day twice if your using it realy heavy.
I researched the Ingersoll 2131 a little online today at lunch and I found a link to a bunch of positive reviews on an amazon.com review site.
I used an Ingersoll Rand 2131 for 2 1/2 years profesionally. Was a great gun and I still use it at home. Only reason I quit using it at work was the fact that I got a new Ingersoll Titanium...Best Impact gun Ive ever used.
I second the opinions regarding Ingersoll tools. After some time as a heavy equipment mechanic, Ingersoll is my choice. Some of the 1/2" impacts can do 600+ lb-ft.
