I have a 1996 f-150 and so does one of the guys who lives around the block.
I talk to him alot because our trucks look exactly alike. So today he knocks on my door and tells me to give him back his bugshield that i took off of his truck. then i walked outside to see what he was talking about and there is a bugshield on his truck and he says that the one on his truck was mine and i have his..I dont have a bugshield on my truck and i never have...he thinks i am hiding his or that i sold it. I knew he was a little slow, but today he was psycho..im not sure how to handle this...im not a stealer and my parents backed me up 100%...
If the bug shield that is now on his truck is the screw on type. Open your hood and show him that you have no holes where the screw's are supposed to be. Then kick him in the butt and tell him to leave.
You can offer the truth up on a platter to some people when they are angry and it doesn't matter. I'd wait until he mellows out and then try to talk sense to him.
Can you contact the people he lives with? I would stop in and ask them if he has been taking his medication. The person claiming you stole the bugshield when it is still attached to their truck is having hallucinations, or very high on drugs...same difference.
Personally, I would tell the police and let them know that this irrational person has been accusing you of theft when the item is still in their possesion. I wouldn't want to be alone with this person either, don't let them corner you, and don't answer the door again, if he calls at your home.
So wait a sec........he thinks you swapped bug shields??? But there isn't one on YOUR truck?? I'm going to have to agree that he's a few days behind on his schizophrenia meds.............
He sounds like a meth addict, they get real paranoid and have a lot of imaginary problems with people that are supposedly taking advantage of them. I've got a brother-in-law that is an addict and he comes up with some crazy stuff when I'm cornered into talking to him. Does your neighbor have trouble standing still when you talk to him?
Report the incident to the police in case it goes any further. Even if the police can't/won't help you, at least if anything does happen you'll have a paper trail to back up your side of the story.
The guy definitely has head problems. You didn't pick up on this from talking to him all those other times ? The first time someone starts talking weird stuff to me is also the last time I give them a chance to.
