i think that preformance shops are a dying breed, weather for cars or trucks. the chain stores are running them out, so you end up at a auto zone argueing that a 6.0 PSD is a diesel.
my truck goes to the dealer for warranty work like most others here but really there isnt any shop locally that i know of that can work on my truck. especially with the amount of computer stuff on the engine and trans. i would have a hard time trusting someone. heck the dealer has problems figuring things out still.
I only take mine to the dealer for warranty work. I am fortunate enough to be friends with the head mechanic at one of the dealerships and the owner of another. My friend and I do the rest of my work. We prefer the trial and error method. We do most of our own fabrication. He specializes in the mechanics while I handle the electronics. We test our ideas on our mud trucks first before applying them to our more expensive models. This allows us to break a $4,000 truck instead of a $40,000 one.
Besides, I can't afford to use a performance shop. I'm just a young bill collector in St. Louis.
I am a framing carpenter with neither the time, patience or knowledge to do anything beyond loading my scmt.
Here in winnipeg mb. canada I am currently on a search for someone besides a ford dealer who knows anything about these 6.0's, especially since I'm now over my 60000 Km's.
