No more front plates!

Well they are finally about to pass this law. Basically it says that after September 1, 2005 they will only issue one license plate and only 1 plate will be required. Maybe signing those petitions and stuff actually paid off.
It is article 9, about 3/4 of the way down the page.

EDIT: If the link dont work then copy and paste this (delete the space between the http: and the //www.) I had to do that so i could post it
:http: //www.capitol.state.tx.us/cgi-bin/tlo/textframe.cmd?LEG=79&SESS=R&CHAMBER=H&BILLTYPE=B&B ILLSUFFIX=03540&VERSION=2&TYPE=B

Why??

What was the big deal about having a front LP? Does the drag factor lower gas mileage, or was it just way too much trouble to put those 2 bolts on?

I have 1967 Texas truck plates on mine... think I'll keep them.
To each his own, I suppose...

Its just stupid i think, just an excuse to stop you if you dont have one. Also alot of newer vehicles dont have a plate frame or anything to attach the plate to. I'm just glad to see the get rid of one of those "dont like you laws" i guess

The big deal is if you want to put a Ford plate on your front, or your from another state, or you don't like them blowing your tax dollars on something unneccessary. It costs 37% more in my tax money to make a plate ofr no reason.

Connie,
We've been using stickers at renewal for years now. I haven't had a new plate in 5 years and am due next year. Cost is a factor and I've never seen the sticker deteriorate. Just be careful when applying it. The sticker has the plate number on it to prevent it's use on another vehicle and help the dull (like me) put the right sticker on the right truck (helps when you have to buy 6 at renewal time. Done correctly, you'll like it.

it's brand new this year and mines due this month. i've been putting it off but i saw the one on my moms car. it just looks cheap to me... i've had my plates all three years i've had the truck and they haven't told me anything about needing new ones but i also didn't get the reminder notice in the mail this year either. guess i'll see when i get to the office....

Connie, I'm with you...I hate the way those new stickers look. I got mine in March and it almost broke my heart to have to attach that piece of garbage to my truck. It looks very bad and way out of place....maybe time for a new petition.

Hahahha, I guess there's some good things about being in Iraq. Dont get raped at the gas pump, dont have to inspect/register my truck, dont have to worry bout cops. Hahahha I guess it aint so bad.
Of course on the other hand I cant wait to get home and drive my truck again!

Anyways, I hate front license plates, I just think they look tacky on a lot of vehicles. Take my sisters 97 Camero, it looks goofy enough as it is, you add a big white square chunk of metal to the nose of that thing and it looks like a buck toothed ferrit. It realy takes away from my '66 Mustang even though they are the original '66 Texas plates. I'm glad to see this law go away. I'm rippin that sucker off the front of my truck soon as I get home! hahaha The first of a long list of mods to make to the ol girl!!!

Keep the wranglers buckled guy and your head down. Come back safe and we can worry about stickers and tags later. Semper Fi.

yeah if that's effective sept 1, it'll be funny to see how many people don't even bother taking them off till it's time to replace them with the new 1. that'd be my line of thinking but then, i'm kinda lazy like that. i guess it depends on what happens between now and then.

i think, if we're paying the same price for the stupid stickers we shud at least get the good stickers instead of the cheap ones... but then, in 79 they were using the two colored stickers on the plates anyway so nothings gonna look "original" on my truck ;-)

take care over there bryan.. you'll be driving your truck again soon enough.. if you got the steering thing fixed ;-) j/k

I hope that the stickers are of good quality. You don't really notice them on the Georgia tags other than the color code for the current year.

we haven't had the stickers on the plates for years now. our stickers in tx are on the windshield and their a piece of paper printed off a printer and stuck to a sticky thing like a piece of tape..it's bigger and it looks cheap and it started this year .. we've had decent windshield stickers till this year... they were the kind that wld tear into pieces if you pulled them off the car once you stuck it on there....

oh well
