I'm going to replace my '81 f-150's tired independant front suspension with a strait axle from a f-250. I plan to use the leaf springs and attachment and mounts. I already know that I will use the outer knuckles and axles from the f-150. I am looking for your input. I am not looking for articulation, just for more strength, less cost(since I already have a strait axle and the parts for a full coil spring changeover is $1800) and it is easier to lift leaf spring suspensions on a budget.
I have changed my motor from a i300 to a '78 351 c.i., instead of a carb I went with the factory MPI injection manifolds , mustang O2 sensor harness( for dual exhaust ), and a factory Cobra computer. I used a Edelbrock perf. plus cam and lifters and timing chain. It took a long time to get the F.I. working but I now get 15-17 mpg and more power than my father's 429 big block in his truck.
Go to ORU's web site. They have a front axle shackle-reverse kit for '87-'97 F-350 trucks which can be easily adapted to the F-150. Talk to (I believe) Steve.
I had explored the idea of converting my '91 F-150 from 2wd to 4wd using a straight axle/leaf spring suspension, and ORU's kit would have been the way to go had I done a straight axle rather than a TTB.

I ran across Jeff's Bronco Graveyard, that sells a conversion from TTB to a 70's style 1/2 ton straight axle keeping the coils (easily modivied to 8 bolt) I'm pretty sure they offer a 12" lift they are kinda expensive but they say they are bolt in swaps.
