I heard there was a gas station in Oklahoma who's gas prices never went above $1.99.9/10. It was because there pumps were so old, they could'nt put a 2 in front. Pumps did'nt have a $2. Just to long of a drive for me though.
Al
back in 03 when the prices rose, i saw a few pumps like this... the owners took a sharpie marker and wrote a 2 in front of the dials on the pumps
I filled up Friday for $1.94 a Gallon. For the past week - week and a half...the prices around here have been under $2. 7/11 has been at $1.97 for a week straight now!
I havn't seen a pump drop in price for about a month. they went 10 cents over a weeks time, but never came down. still stuck around 2 30-240 for regular.
I paid $1.97 in Virginia Beach, VA yesterday on my lunch break from work.
Now if I would have waited until work was over I would have paid $2.05, I guarentee it. Now I also guarentee that since I purchased it at $1.97, when I pass by today it will by $1.94 or $1.90.
$2.29 a Gallon here for cheapo no-namebrand gas and you can take off 3¢ a gallon at Albertsons with their little blue card. Whoopee, eh? I don't even LOOK at the major chain gas stations.
All this griping about the high price of gas just begs me to ask some questions.
Consider the following items:
1. Do you live where the median home price is 250K and above?
2. Are your property taxes higher than 3K and up range for an average home?
3. Do you pay a state income tax, city income tax , personal and/ or business?
4. And still pay a sales tax, personal property tax?
5. Does your state assess vehicle license fees based on "value" and not weight (hidded personal property tax)?
6. Does your fuels/ energy consistantly cost more than MOST other parts of the US?
7. In spite of all these taxes you pay, do you see a decline in basic services provided by your City/ County, or State?
If you answered "YES" to 4 or more of the above questions, possibly it is time to review your choice of where you reside, or be more vigilant of whom you vote for. You do NOT have to put up with it, but the choice is yours as to what you do ABOUT it. Do nothing, and nothing will change except to get worse, giving you some more to gripe about.
I know I am going to get a lot of flack on my views, so bring it on and let's discuss it.
Not being rude...but sounds like a topic for a new thread .
I believe this "price of gas" thread is relating (for the most part) that gas prices seem to be falling for a change (at least in some parts of the country).
well dialtone, where I live most houses are going for 500k plus. That is for a regular 3 bedroom house on 3/4 acre... Long Island sucks, and I guess because the houses are so expensive, the gas should be too right?
