Has anybody put a thing called the turbonator on there car. It's suppose to increase power and give better gas mileage but i don't know if it works. If not what else should i put on my 1988 Bronco II 2.9L v6 to increase the performance and maybe the gas mileage.
When I was in College we had one of those Tornado things. On the flow bench (for those who don't know what one is, it measures the amount of air that is passed though a given restriction. Example a cylinder head) it made the air swirl so much we almost broke the swirl meter. So it does work, In theory. But with repeated Dyno ( for you who dosn't know what a dyno is it measures the torque of an engine) tests we consistently lost Horse Power and torque. And I know why. The Idea is a good one, but the manufacturer of those products fail to realize that once the swirling air hits the throttle blade(s) on a vehicle the swirl action stops. What they need to do is develop a product that goes behind the throttle blade(s) then it would increase the horse power and torque. So to answer your question, If you install it in the manner of their choosing then the answer is no. But if you find a way to install it in the intake behind the throttle blade(s) then the answer is yes.

I understand the swirling air is a good thing, but when it enters the throttle as dirtybroncoII said, it causes the air to go from swirling to majorly chaotic.
Yes that is right. If the air is in a uniform "Swirl" then the fuel will atomize better, but if the air is going random places then the fuel wont atomize correctly. This will give you inconsistent results, and ultimately reducing power and torque.
I bought "The Tornado" (same SS Swirly thing)for a DoDge Durango with the 4.7Ltr V-8.
I was averaging 16.6 MPG in combination City/Highway driving BEFORE I installed the Tornado.
After installing it I got 16.4MPG!
I called the company and they reccomended I change the position of the Tornado in the air intake hose..I did and didn't see any improvement.
It had a 30 day money back guarantee..I gave it 3 weeks and took it back for a refund
So I would say NO those stainless steel swirly deals don't work!
