Picked up a really nice 89 BII EB 4x4 117K miles. Drove it home 200 miles performed great. Except the torque converter on the A4ld seemed to lock and unlock on grades at highway speeds. It otherwise shifts fine thru all 4 gears.
Also noticed the temp gauge seemed to rise on grades. So I checked the resevoir it was full of coolant but the radiator was about 3" low and there was a grease like film on the radiator cap and muck floating on the coolant looked like lithium grease. The oil and tranny fluid were Ok. The hoses are all original and I plan on changing very soon. Should I be concerned with these issues.
