new 05 oil question
I just took delivery of my new truck. (see gallery) I was checking out the various 5w20 oils out there and have a question. Motorcraft is a synthetic blend. I have found a regular 5w20 oil, 100% synthetic, and a blend. (Castrol) I'm going to change the oil at 500 miles or so but with which oil?? Since the reg oil is cheaper would that be ok or does Ford want the blend? I did ****** up 6 Motorcraft 820S filters at Wally World... 
BTW..... 265 miles, 23 gallons of gas... 11.5 mpg!
Where do I get my BSEG membership card and t-shirt??

I would'nt be worryied about the price differential between regular oil and the semi-synthetic. Untll the warranty expires, use the motorcraft- ford and your engine will appreciate it!

I think any 5-20 that has the new ratings will work but because the Motorcraft 5-20 semi synthetic is such a great oil and so reasonable in price that is what I am using.
The USA Motorcraft semi-synthetic 5-20 is completely different than the Canadian Motorcraft 5-20 which is a premium oil. I have both and I poured a little out of each container. The US stuff is lighter in colour and I believe it is a superior product so that is what is going in my 05 V10 from now on.
V10man , congratulations on your new truck and I hope you enjoy it. You have the same model as me and it is a hoot how these big girls step out for 7700 pound vehicles. That is what mine weighs on a Govt Scale. That's me in it and a full tank with maybe 200 pounds of new accessories so this model in a PSD would be over 8100 pounds. That was the GVW of my 1975 F250 and everybody thought they were such big trucks. Good luck and take care, Wrench.
