Dude I am not sure but I think they might be blowing you a bunch of hot air. Call the Ford dealer and ask for parts and tell them your info. Did they tell you about the mexican lowering kit that comes with that style of motor?
Ford has or had a casting center in Mexico. There are lots of engines that you'll find with a spanish form of Made in Mexico cast into the lifter valley. I think it is Hecho en Mexico. There are other casting numbers or such to go by as well.
Several reliable of sources suggest that these blocks have a higher nickle content and are stronger than other blocks cast here in the U.S.. Maybe someone here has had first hand experience with this and will confirm or discount this.
I personaly seen Mexican 302 & 351W blocks go for a few hundred ...And from all the reading I have done , states that the block is stronger due to the higher Nickel contint, Like Purely Ford says. Check your block and get all of the casting #'s and anything thats written on the block (assumes the block is out) Steve

The specs on the internal rotating assembly are no different than any other. The final assemble most likely took place here in the U.S. back then. The amount of overbore it'll take to clean up may be different because there may not even be a ridge worn in near the top of the cylinders. That is if they really are made of harder material.
