There's real football in Australia? I knew we yanks liked you guys for a reason. I thought it was the pionering spirit, still allowed to be men and all that. Now i know, your not afraid to play real football. What are Australian rules, and please don't sandbag me with that Rugby stuff, even though i like that game.

Its hard to explain. There is no padding... but unlike Rugby, or NFL its more about going for "the ball" than "the man".
Its prehaps closest to gaelic football (if you know what that is).
It is the fastest variant of "football" and is played on the biggest field with the largest amount of players (18 a side)

When we where kids we played rough house football, whoever had the ball was the target, you could pass it off to your teammate but once he got the the ball he became the target of everyone on the field, including his own guys, no rules, punching kicking whatever was allowed. No one ever quit. My family has strong Scotch Heritage and i have a ball signed by the Irish team from a couple of years ago, also some of the ball players here worked for me and my neighbor sponsored one of their teams. Tough boys. As far as soccer goes, i watch the game during the world cups ocassionally, i like the pace of the game even played a little in school, though only to build my speed for football. My grandson loves the game, he's going to be built like an offensive lineman but he loves soccer, so i go watch and cheer him on.

I just read your (big 350) explanation of the footy game and I didn’t even know that there is 18 players each side! The truth is, I moved to OZ 26 years ago from Hungary and in this 26 year time probably I saw about 30 minutes of the game!! Can you believe that I can not stand it at all!? I aint for sure what it is but I can’t watch it. I watched the warm up match today between OZ and Liechtenstein and I reckon they going to be very lucky to make it out of their group if they wont improve.
Anyway Cheers to everyone!

That they do - and if Australia plays like they did in the friendly versus Lichtenstein - we will be flogged.

How is Serbia/Montenegro (sp?) looking Red Star?

Well we had some problems when coach called his son to play for national team. Everybody was against him, fans, media ... so after few weeks his son quit, so Serbia & Montegero is only team on world cup with 22 players (instead of 23).

Other than that, things look great.

Well, we just beat Japan in a nail biting match (3:1 - but we didn't score our first goal until the 84th minute).

WOOT. Our first world cup game win!!!

OUCH...

Although the Czech Republic is a strong team... Ghana you should be able to beat... Italy might not be quite so easy though...

Pretty good games today, Korea 2 - Togo 1, France 0 - Swiss 0, Brazil 1 - Croatia 0 (this one was the best one, with a defensive yet ambushing Croatia), here we are pretty much following most of the games... even though they´re transmitted starting at 9am and finishing at 5pm.
