Question Dana 44 inner seal problem

I have a 78' F-250 with Dana 44-9f front diff. and I would like to know how the axle tube comes off of the housing to replace the inner seal. Is it pressed on or is there another way that it comes off?

Axle tube seals

The axle tubes are welded in place. I assume your leak is from the inside of the tube and not between the tube and housing. The gear carrier must be removed and the axle seals installed from the inside. This must be done after the steering knuckles are removed and the axles are removed. I have never done it but that is what the Ford service manual for 1978 F250 says must be done. Have you ever removed / installed the gear carrier from one of these? I have questions about that (separate thread).
