I have a 5.0 in my 95 f150 4x4 and i need more power. I am thinking about putting a lift on it and running 33's on it but the engine seems under powered now. I was wondering if you guys could give me some advice about getting some more power. I am a college student so money is a issue and i'd like to stay under 1000. Any info will be greatly apriciated.

If gas mileage is not an issue you can go with lower gears or change your air intake to a cold air intake. might help you better offroad if that is your intent.
Please make sure you have a look around the forums we have. There are many, including a "Performance and General Engine Building" forum, a "302/351 Engine forum", and "suspension, tires, wheels" forum. If you havn't already, please read this thread...

A change in gear ratio to say for example to a 4.10 ratio is the only thing that will make a very noticable difference in the way your truck feels and can be done for about a grand. The sky is the limit as far as mods go for the 5.0 engine trucks. If you want check out my gallery, it might give you some ideas. I vote for a gear swap
I would start with exhaust. Cat back systems will free up some h.p. and are easy to do.
Then go to the intake side. Filters and cold air intakes are popular mods.
Remember that that your engine, a glorified air pump, will run better if you can increase the flow in and balance it with increased flow out.
Search this forum for the best ideas on both intake and exhuast.
Well, you could get headers and a GT-40 intake. I think thats under 1k, but not by much. Otherwise get nitrous, or you can save up and get new heads or a supercharger.
I also have a '95 4x4 with the 5.0L. Mine has 3:55 gears and auto trans with 85k miles. I checked the timing recently and found it to be set at around 7-8 degrees advanced. I set it up to 12 advanced and it gave the truck more snap (spout connector must be disconnected while setting timing). Ford seems to be sloppy about setting the timing accurately at the factory. I would also replace cap/rotor, plugs with Autolite #25, replace PCV (rear passenger's side valve cover), and new air filter. After that I would say gears would be a good investment if you want to go with the big tires. Have your checked your door jab sticker for the axle code? That code will tell you what gears the truck was built with. Bill '95 F150 4x4 Super Cab Eddie Bauer
One more thing to keep in mind is that if your truck is a mass air truck like many of the 95 5.0's are, you can pretty much play all the 5.0 games them Mustang boys play. The only real limit to what you can do is your wallet....well at least that is what mine was. Let us know what you do...I am sure most of us would like to see you get what you are looking for.
