I'm sorry to see it go, but very glad that I got my '05. It's kind of cool to have a one year only vehicle. I secretly lusted for an Ex since they were introduced and when I heard back in October that 2005 was the last year...well, I figured that it was time.
It may still be possible to order one, but I'd bet you have to act fast...or take what is in stock. I think my local dealer had 4 or 5 last time I was there.

They are being built until sometime in Sept. I believe you can still order one so long as it has a gas engine. PSDs might be available but I was not able to get one ordered in March with a PSD.

According to blueovalnews.com, there is no Job 1 date for the Excursion.
My dealer, and other sources, have said there will not be a 2006 model.
Matt,
I called Ford customer service today and was told there is no job 1 date (so I assume there is no 2006 model) and that the last ordering date is 8.5 but according to Blue Oval news, production has already ceased.
The Exped with the diesel has been seen by magazine guys in testing, but with so much "available soon" "never available" talk by Ford, no one is sure if it's an engine option or not.
It is true, however, that the '07 Suburban was redesigned to make sure the Dura/Allison combo could fit. I can't see Ford giving away it's diesel SUV sales to Chevy that easily; it makes sense they dump the Ex and use the Exped, otherwise, in order to compete with Chevy, they'd keep the Ex. It's already paid for and it's making money.

The D'Max in the Suburban has never been confirmed. The latest word (6 months old) that I have seen (source ==> engineers at the local GM plant) was that it is still being considered, but not a definite program yet.
GM laughed at Ford for bringing out the X in the first place. 3/4 ton Suburban sales were never above 25,000 units/year. Not that big of a market. With the creature comforts now available in CC pickups, I doubt that the market size has grown.
Hard to justify the R&D expense for 20,000 +/- units/year.

I have to agree. If/when I get a new vehicle is is deffinetly going to be a F350 SD/CC. I was able to bring one home from work a while back and believe it or not, the back seating area IS larger than in the EX. I confirmed it by getting the kids and dogs in both vehicles back to back, and we all agreed that the CC rear seat area was larger than the Ex's second row seating.
