Question Can't pinpoint noises - need help.

I've got a 99 F150 Supercab Lariat, Full towing package. Anyway, Having some hard to find noises, I can't seem to pinpoint. At 65 mph (with or without overdrive on) nothing, at 67 (with or without over drive on) I get a vibration and a noise that almost sounds like something is loose. Now, at 70+ it goes away. I've looked underneath and can't seem to find anything. At first I thought it might be my driveshaft, but it's only at 66-68 MPH...no other speed.

I do have the Torque converter problem also, but my tranny isn't in the middle of any shifts when I feel this. It does feel like it's coming from under me to behind me (driver's seat) towards the bed.

Another noise, I've got ground effects on the truck, not sure if that could affect it or not, but on certain types of roads, it's almost a rattling sound when my rear wheels travel up and down over some bumps in the road. Hard to pinpoint where it's coming from.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Now thats is going to be tough to pinpoint. Unless you can find someone crazy enough to be in the bed hanging down to see if they can find the source...unless of course you don't like that person then asure them it's all good and go over alot of bumps.

For the ground effects, go through all of them and see if you can find ANY loose parts or fastners.

As for the other noise from underneath, all I can suggest is to get underneath and start trying to move, rattle kick or beat on everything. hopefully you will find something that makes the same noise as you heard. This is a tough one.

Anyone else?

I would suggest the latter of BillyBob69's suggestion. I also had some noises and found them this way

Good Luck!

Hey guys, just got under the truck again. Found something, could this be the cause??
The drivers' side front leaf spring bushing, seems to be about 1/4 to a 1/2 in out towards the body...and is inside the leaf spring hole on the driveshaft side. The leaf spring looks like it could come in contact with the perch bracket if bumped hard enough.

Hmmm

Another quick question, how hard is this to replace?? How hard is the bushing to get into the spring??

Raise the entire front end with a good floor jack just until the tires leave the ground, then lower it back down to take the wieght off of the springs. but JUST back down, go too far and you will have the springs pushing back down at you. You will want to raise the truck by somewhere other than the suspension or axel. That needs to be free. Then you can undo the bolts for the springs and what have you to replace the bushings. Remember to block the front wheels both directions once you have it jacked up. This will keep the front from rolling around on you with the springs undone. easier for re-installation.
