I'm looking at saving some dough and using Explorer heads on my 1991 F-150.
I know what the differences in the GT-40 & GT-40P Heads are, which ones are best suited to my ol' truck? (What with the different EGR setups and all...)
Your exhaust original manifolds will not bolt up to the GT-40p. You can get headers but may have spark plug clearance issues. Don't believe they will give you any advantages over the GT-40 heads. If you can locate both and didn't want to spend money on aftermarket heads (best) or ported E7s, I would go with the GT-40.
Yeah, I knew that 'bout the manifolds...my originals are cracked anyway...I'm unconcerned with header issues, I'll deal with that however I need to with whatever head I need to.
I'm mainly concerned with the EGR setup...perhaps I don't need to be...with an aftermarket intake do I even use EGR?
