Stiffen up 2002 F150 Lariat Supercrew Suspension
I am interested in stiffening up my suspension so I don't have as much sway in turns and nose diving with I put on the brakes. I would like to achieve the feel of the FX 4 package, which I obviously don't have.
I am not interested in lifting my truck or spending lots of money. I was hoping to purchase some Rancho shocks. A buddy of mine suggested "Coilovers" though pricy.
Can anyone give me some advice to achieve my desired result?
Thanks,
SMP

I am experiencing the same thing with my '02 F150 Ext Cab. I have cranked the torsions bars a bit and that has helped. Also lifted the front end up a bit, which I like. Spoke to Ford about it and they said that they have a "heavy duty" shock that they would be able to install for me. Anyone have any idea if this heavy duty shock would help our situation?

Answer to Shmuck's question
Ford says they can install a heavier duty shock. They will probably install a Rancho which comes with the FX 4 off road package. It would probably be cheaper to by them and install yourself if you are up for the slight challenge.
I read your post earlier this morning and I have decided to go with the Rancho 9000, based on your feedback.
Tell me more about what Ford told you if it is different from what I have said. I am interested in getting that stiffer off road ride. 757.403.1213.

My understanding of Ford's suggestion was a heavy duty shock that thay have in stock. I presumed it was a "no-name" brand. They did not mention anything about it being a Rancho from a FX4. As a matter of fact, the guy i did speak with suggested an off-road shop that I should check out, however at this point in time I still have not made it to the said shop, although I have been in there in the past and the selection is essentially Rancho's. (Selection over here is not as good as it is in North American!!!!) As per one of my previous posts, the members here suggest Rancho's or Bilstein's. Sorry, I know this post probably has not clarified the issue for you any further, but if you do go with the Rancho's I'd be very interested to hear what your impression is.
Cheers,
