i have had the luk solid flywheel conversion done on my 97 f-350 4x4 reg cab. after the install the new setup is much louder. what makes the solid noisier? also after the truck has been ran for a while the clutch will start "singing". it will stop when the pedal is pressed, but will make the noise whether in neutral or cruising .
the louder smfw is normal. the DMFW clutch is built absorb more vibration which makes it quieter. the luk is a heavier setup which makes it louder also.
if your getting that singing noise i would check your tranny fluid and make sure that it was a FULL SYNTHETIC that went in. sounds more like that noise is coming from the trans than the clutch since its doing it as it heats up.
the luk is definately louder than the DMFW but i think is worth a little noise. i think my southbend clutch is quieter than the LUK but it might just be my imagination also.
