I drained the fuel out through the water seperator now when I turn the key on or try cranking it over no fuel come into bowl.Does that mean the fuel pump is finished. If so what does it look like and where is it located.
I will agree with barebackjake and fast freddie. If one of the tanks got low enough, then more than likely it lost its prime. Switch tanks( if equipt with dual tanks), fill fuel bowl and run it. Also make sure the drain valve on the lower side of bowl is closed. I have always been told to try and not run the tanks below 1/4tank. When a diesel runs low or empty and has to be primed it is very hard on the pump.
it really shouldn't matter is it an OBS or superduty they both have an electric fuel pump. the OBS just has a mechanical transfer pump that transfers fuel from fuel filter to heads. but i would do what the other guys have said. fill up the bowl and switch tanks if you can and try it.

No electric fuel pump in my '97 F250HD! It's two, two, two pumps in one up there in the valley.
