Header gaskets

I have a set of Summit Racing shorty headers that I plan to install on my 1991 F-150 4x4 with a 5.0. The headers came with paper gaskets. Should I use the paper gaskets or would it be worth the money to buy some metal ones? I don't want to have to do the job twice as I am going to have a hard time finding the time to do it once.

Thanks<o =""></o>

My Banks headers came with thick paper gaskets. They have been on for 25K miles so far and no problems.

My Dynomax headers came with thin paper gaskets that only lasted a few weeks. I got some thick paper ones from NAPA ($20) and have had no trouble since.

I like the Percy's dead soft aluminum header gaskets and a thin layer of RTV ultra copper on both sides of the gasket. There is no chance of the gasket burning out and I've been running leak free this way for a long time.

Just coat the paper ones with ultra copper and they should be ok. If they aren't the thick ones then you should go out and buy them. I have tried the metal gaskets and they are junk.

The cooper one's I used were junk, the aluminum gaskets have worked perfectly for the last two years, my two cents.
