Hey guys. Just wanted to let everyone know that I havn't sold my blue ford and I'm back on the site to cater to your every needs...lol.
I see alots been going on here and I like it already. I just wanted that Trans Am so bad and almost bought one but I figured it was gonna end up costin' me 10 grand so I backed out. Plus trucks are so much more fun.
So now that I'm back I might as well ask ya'll a question. I have rust. I have rust just like most of the older vehicles in my area. Its all over the fenders and there's a beautiful hole in the front. Also my damn tires rub! Ahh I know I know put a lift in her eh? Well how about this? Cut the fenders a little bit and install some bushwacker fender flares? That way I can cut the rust away and add some looks. If anyone has some pics or input please post! Thanks guys... Man this site is way nicer than before!
I think that you'll find most people here havn't cut their fenders. I havn't seen many, I think this generation is only 1/2 at that stage. Most of us still have these trucks in steady daily driver use, and havn't gotten into things like cutting fenders.
Mask off some areas with black tape and put the fender flares over it, and it'll help you visualize what you want to do. I don't see any reason not to cut them, just line everything up the way you like it and go to town.
Thanks so much mustang! I just wanted to cut them because my 33's rub and I bet it would look cool too. I still don't have any pictures of any trucks with cut fenders yet. So you say do a mock up first? At least then I'd know what I'm in for. Does anyone have any pictures? Thanks.
Its gavin degraw one of my favourite artists in the whole world. Its an oldie tho I should change it right now! Yes I think I will. BTW Gavin Degraw is the man!
hey moose, i used to live in quispamsis. i graduated from kvhs in 98, after that i moved to alberta where the money is. Alot has changed there from what i have heard.
That's for sure fella! 98 eh? I would have still been in High School. I graduated in 2003 I think...lol.
Ya the roads are salty here but when I get this done I am going to oil every single inner fender and hopefully it'll work good. I havn't seen chopped fenders that have fender flares installed but my friend and I are going to take our time, mask it off and just really make it look good. Plus if all else fails fenders are cheap.
Some things have changed, its becoming a more expanding area. There are more houses going up witch means less places to go offroad, but overall its an alright place to live.
I think it would look great with fender flares. Have you had it undercoated? I suggest (if you havent already) take it somewhere to have it steamcleaned and undercoated professionally, you can have them drill holes in panels and spray inside them as well. So glad i bought mine in salt free florida, shes only seen a couple months of salty roads but i had it undercoated and wash/waxed soooo much i dont think the salt made any difference. Good that your back and keeping your truck, it looks sweet.
Welcome back, glad you've come home. I took a picture of a camoflauge F250 with non-floating rear axle and cutout front fenders that a dozer/loader driver has at a development. He waited a little too long after cutting and now has to address some rust issues. You can see where he was going with it though and it looked good. He is running 33" tires as well. I'll ge them posted pretty quickly in my gallery.
My truck has seen 3-4 months of salt/snow a year it's whole life, I've got 2-3 tiny rust spots on the body, a little rot under the edge of the supercab on the drivers side, and a little surface rust on the rear wheel wells. I'm having it all properly fixed in a couple months. Gotta get that stuff early before it gets too bad. My uncle owns a body shop
My 89 has rust on the bottom lower corners of the cab/doors, and a few spots here and there, nothing serious. I'm going to experiment with bodywork on my 89 over the summer.
I was in maine a few months ago and saw an early 90s something dakota with some pretty rotted wheel wells. It was rotted up the side of the vehicle, the outer sheetmetal of the bed was rotted away almost up to the bed rails. I think it was about time for a new bed ha.
Yea theres a kid at school with an older toyota 4x4, wow the bed on that thing was so bad. There wasnt any rear fender left on the bed, he recently made a wooden one to replace it, and a toolbox to sit on it.

I like it. I like it alot. But I have one problem. The front is trimmed and the back isn't?
That's just alittle weird. My truck sits nose down right now and do you guys think that just cutting the front is a better idea? Nothing rubs in the back.
