You are talking about the Inyector Check Valve. It is used to keep the inyector galery full of fuel all time, it seems to me your trucks is not geting idle since fuel is pasing directly through the inyector circuit.

Get a Carburetor tune up Kit, the steel ball is included, the Brass part is not included in most kits, unfortunatelly you should get it in a carburetor shop...

if you're in Northern Indiana, check out Lakeside Auto Supply in Culver Indiana. They have a carb rebuild service and can rebuild any 1, 2, 3, or 4 bbl carb you bring in. If they don't make a kit for it, the original parts will be refurbished and gaskets will be made for it. give them a call at (574)842-3658.

If you look at the open carb, in the float chamber is the spring loaded pump assembly and diaphram. On that small assembly you should see a little tube running from the bottom of that assembly over to a jet on the carb wall.

On that carb wall, if you look over to the right of that jet, you'll see a hole that is open, that is where the ball and rectangle goes.

Write back if you need more help.
