power source?

I have a 1994 Supercab 4X4 and am putting a camper on it. I cannot find a "hot" wire at the back of the truck for a DC power source for the camper. Does one exist?

I had a shell (not a camper) on the back of my 90 F150 for a while, and it had a light inside the rear. I also could not find any hot leads back there, just the tail/brake/backup lamp leads, so I ended up running a 12ga lead from the battery to the back, over the front wheelwell and near the pass. side framerail (the body/bed has various parts protruding down with holes in them that I used to zip-tie the lead), then I drilled, siliconed and grommeted a hole in the bottom of the bed just behind the rear wheelwell. I also used some of that flexible black plastic conduit tubing to protect the wire. Oh yeah, try to keep the lead as far as possible from the exhaust pipe or wrap the wire in that heat-resistant wrap, or both! Don't have the shell anymore, but the lead still works great for a power outlet.

Good luck,
Chuck
