I own a 1984 Bronco XLT w/ a 351W. 4-barrel edelbrock intake and carb WITHOUT EGR. I am buying new heads today or tomorrow and the ones I plan on getting are E7TE heads, off a '91 BKO. Will these fit w/o any modification?!
you will need to drill out the bolt holes to 1/2". are these stock heads? if so then you might take them down to a shop and have them enlarge the bolt holes and do a little work on them this way you get a little more grunt out of them. you will also need the emissions holes on the back of the heads plugged
84 still has the ccrossover pipe on the back of the heads. You are supposed to have egr on that truck. (I own two of that year) You are going to have some emmissions issues with that setup in montgomery county.
Did you get your wrenching session set up yet? I saw it on the other site but I won't be down that weekend.
Crap, I was told the heads would fit fine. They are E7TE heads, off another 351W. Bolt holes won't be a problem, since it's another 351W, correct? As for inspection, I can get my truck inspected without any problem, I got it a few months ago with a broken carburetor and malfunctioning EGR, so I'll be okay. As for plugging EGR holes, how's that going to go? I paid $100 for the heads, shipped. I planned on paying a machine shop to do a rebuild for $150.
phew, ya'll had me scared. As for getting more power out of them. The basic rebuild is $150. What would you suggest doing to get more power and what kind of price increase do you think I should expect? They will be bolt on with a brand new Edelbrock 4 barrel intake manifold and Edelbrock #1406 Carburetor.
ask the shop. a 3 angle valve job an port matching . a little polishing on the exhaust side to. just tell them your goals and what the motor will be in and its use.
