Hi all,
I have a good one... My buddy has a Ford Aerostart LX... When he turns on the wipers they won't stop when switched off until he turns the key off... We replaced the switch and it still does it...
The unit in the dash has the intermediate speed wheel on top then the lever switch has off, intermediate, low, high and when you press the lever switch in the washer comes on... Its all in one unit...
When he tries to keep up with traffic on the freeway, the wind makes them come on and they won't stop until he shuts the ignition off... If its a relay, does anyone know where the relay is? It doesn't show one in the chilton or haynes...
Thanks,
Terry....
On my 88 F-150 the motor and gear drive are one unit and if you open the cover of the gear drive unit there is a series of contacts that tell the motor when to reverse direction. It sounds to me like the motor is only stopping when the contacts hit a dead spot in the slide. My wipers were doing some strange things and all I did was clean up all the contacts and regrease the area and it works fine now. Not sure if you have the same setup since the Aerostar is closer to a Ranger than an F-150.
