propane conversion question
Welcome aboard Aussiesbi. Thanks for the advice. But I have already purchased an EFI set up.So with this set up I have decided to go duel fuel because of the automatic timing that the computer does when you switch from gas to propane or vise versa.I still plan on useing propane when ever possible since out here it's half the price of gas.

hey WOLFD, what kind of mileage do you get in your 300 on propane? I just got a 300 that I'm building to run on propane. I want to up the compression ration to 11:1 or so (maybe 12). I too live in BC.
For the original poster, my plan is to build a stock 300 except the CR, which as I say I play to go 11:1 or so (we'll see how high I can get). It'll be straight propane though, no gasoline as it'd destroy the engine quick at that CR
It'll be impco mixer in place of carberateur. The propane injection systems are too expensive for me and I don't think you can make the carb work with the computer system in an EFI system.
Thanks!

I get about 17 MPG its a 4 speed manual. I also have a '95 - 460 5spd on propane (it has a new PRINS direct injection setup), but it only gets about 12 or 13 MPG.

Wow, is that 17 on propane? That's amazing. I was thinking if I could get 14 I'd be very happy! The truck has a 400 in it right now.. I think I'm getting about 10mpg or so in it (just guessing.. my gas tank leaks if I fill it
).
).
.17 cents / gallon.....OK now I'm depressed. I can't even remember paying that much per litre up here. Makes me realize how hozed we're getting up here in Canada, we're paying to subsidize others...
