Depends where you are. I live in Vancouver BC, Canada and propane here is about 57 cents / litre. Gasoline is 90 cents / litre.

Maybe not all but a whole darn lot of it would vanish if not for the whole rediculous oil thing.
I guess cost has always been the big reason for not using LP for everyday cars. Has anybody figured the cost against gasoline at the present prices?
i have a 300 out of an 88 f150 in my rock buggy and ive been on the paine for a year now and it is awsome. its around 110 octane and i adapted the fuel injection intake to instead of running the carb set up.in some states you can purchase an alternative fuel exemption permit to avoid the emissions testing.you dont need the comp to run the motor with the propaine .i used an impco 300 mixer and propaine here in tx is 157 gallon compared to 201 for gas.
If you're gonna run straight LP, and not a dual fuel setup, why mess with a regular carb at all? LP conversions are available with a throttle body made just for that purpose, with no fuel bowls. We've run dual fuel setups on our family's ranch for 20 years with no real issues. I just removed a kit from my 89 F-150 at Christmas time before bringing it back to Kansas (The off road tax advantages of propane aren't available for use in town). The Impco brand that Javi mentioned sounds familiar, and i believe that some of our kits may be that brand. The specific kit I pulled off my truck had a computer with it that talked to the Ford ECU, for the timing and fuel injection issues (the gasoline fuel pumps were shut off when running on LP).
As you're in Canada, you'll still need the pre-warmer manifold, it ties into your radiator to use the engine coolant to warm the fuel to a high enough temp to vaporize. Actually, your location may require, or encourage you to run dual fuel, so you can start on gas and switch over once the motor is warming up.
Thanks for the reply F-Liner.I do want to run dual fuel and have purchased a EFI drivetrain set up.I will call our local propane conversion company and enquire further on the set up.
Have any of you ever dealt with Propane Guy out here in BC Canada? Is he honest, reliable, and reasonable?
No. We've acquired our kits over the years at auctions and off of trucks we've gotten at sales. Except the one on the 89. It was purchased in Nebraska.
I have run propane for 10 years in my 90 ford 150 and have had no trouble in winter and i've driven it in weather as cold as -40 C with no trouble while it's running i live in Saskatchewan personally if i could find a system for my 2001 expedition i would convert that also due to fuel risin. to 97 cents a litre. any info on a propane conversion for a 5.4l triton engine would be great.
IN America we are being slowly conditioned to think that high gas prices are low gas prices. They are taking it in steps so there is no revolt. They can continue to drive sales the same as always with the added attraction of mega profit. There is no shortage or any other excuse you may have heard. There is only greed and the opportunity for huge profit in a cornered market. We allow it to happen. We will come and drain the tanks at any station selling for $2.00 gal right now. We would have ran from that station two years ago. In a nutshell they have us like puppets on a string. Somebody somewhere is getting wildly rich while the average person is being sucked dry.
The only thing that will change this I believe is people buying LESS GAS. In a way this could be a good thing because I think the thought of having an automobile as being a right and not a priveledge has run wild here in America at least. Probably a lot of other places as well. So we can choose to drive a little less at our own control now or we can wait for them to get the prices up to the $3 ceiling cap that it is belived Americans will pay for gas without protest. Then we will HAVE to drive less. Those of us who work for a living at least. There are more of US than there are of THEM. Remember that America!
As every major oil company in America is publicly traded, you could buy their stock and be one of THEM. Yes, I agree, somebody is getting rich, and maybe the oil companies are to an extent, however, I believe that the most profit taking is inside the OPEC organization. However, in America, we still have cheaper Fuel than most places on the world.
Well, those prices are result of local laws. Since the Oil is a natural resource, the owners are the Venezuelan citizens, the people don't have to pay it, we pay just for the fuel process and distribution...
There is no advantage in running an efi engine on propane instead or a carbi engine. Use loose all all the efi advantages when you switch to propane. So to answer the question that started the thead buy the best engine you can find whatever it is.
