Hi. I have been lurking around the heavy duty boards for while getting insight on a truck i plan to purchase in the future...but in the mean time...I am stuck with a ranger whho likes to fight me every chance it gets....literally. First, at about 8,000 miles i noticed an oil leak. This made me need a new front main bearing seal. Then the clutch started making odd noises...fix=new clutch assembly. Then the truck would start to cut out and just lose power...fix= dealer still confused. Now I have an intermittent E-brake light under hard acceleration and an ABS light which randomly comes on. To top it all off, now i have a Check Engine lamp on with code P0068, Throttle position correlation error. MY question is, what is involved in fixing it? The truck is hard to start occasionally, and sometimes has a really dampened accelerator...with the pedal on the floor, the engine seems to go into limp mode...Oh yeah, when i back up i hear a loud popping noise in the floor somewhere...Any insight?? The vehicle is an '03 Ranger 4.0l Fx4 5-spd manual. Thanks for any help!
I doubt this will solve all issues, but insist that your dealer service department install the "flight recorder" in that truck. When it's acting up, you hit the little button on the recorder and data is stored. The service department can use this data to fix the problem(s). This is very useful for intermittent problems and ones where the problem is such that a code is not stored. I've seen the flight recorder for EEC-IV systems; I'd expect there is one for ODD-II systems. When the flight recorder is installed, don't pount on the button multiple times when the problem is occuring. Once or twice will suffice. Since you seem to have multiple problems, make a note of what problem is happening when the flight recorder is activated and pass that on to the service department.

Will do. I wil have to see when i get time to go over there...knowing my local dealers, their remark will always be, "We have no indication of what a flight recorder is, or anything similar" Quick and easy way to get out of more warranty repairs...thanks though...I will try!
