I posted this the other day about my 1993 F150 XLT 4X4 I6 5 speed. When I start my truck the check engine light comes on and then goes off like it should. While I'm driving it will come on for a minute or two and then go out. Then a minute or two later its back on again, and it comes on and off a couple times like that when I'm heading to school. It's been doing this for about a week and I haven't really thought much about it because it just comes and goes. My owners manual says that when the light comes on for a brief period and then goes out it means that a problem is no longer there. Should I be concerned about this?

 

But if the check engine light keeps coming back, it means the problem keeps coming back. You can try pulling the codes yourself, and see what the computer is whining about.

Probably a sticking EGR valve.

My thoughts exactly. My truck did the same thing so I got rid of the egr now it is always on, but not for much longer
