is it LD or HD?
My friend has a 79 F250 -same truck it mine axle, gears motor trans cab con, everything even FF rear axle and dual pistion calipers on front but his stick says GVW 6900LBS and mine is 8000LBS is that a misprint. seems low for a F250 2wd with a ff rear end and HD front brakes and 3.73 gears,we both have a 300 I 6 to.
What gives?

springs yours vare heavier duty hop on your back bumper then hop on your freinds all 79 f-250's came with a full floater d6o rear and twin piston calipers up front just different spring packages

Not all F-250s came with twin piston calipers in front, it varied with GVWR. The GVWR for F-250's varied widely. Mine was a 6200 but the springs it sets on now are very stiff. The brakes and the rest of the vehicle have not been upgraded yet.

My truck was a 6900# with a dana 60 w/ 3.73s and dual piston calipers up front. The stock booster is a 1 ton (others claim) and it came with a 360, but the guy before me had the 300 swapped in. I am sure that it would handle way more than the 6900 it is rated for, but thats the specs. It isn't a misprint.
