6 spd auto?

when coasting down a hill i often knock the lever into "N" because of the deep gearing in my truck. when i get to the bottom, and drop it back to OD, the truck shifts into a ghost gear and raises to about 1500rpms for just a second before jumping back into OD(5).

i could only WISH there was a double OD 6th gear and id have no problem forkin over a grand or more to have a progremmer that makes use of it!!!!!

just thot id ask in case

I saw somewere on the internet, wish I remember were, that shows the shift pattern for the TQshift. Its a 6 speed and uses 5 up and 5 down but not the same 5.

On a cold morning when taking off and building up speed slowly you can count all six of them. Use a fairly light and steady throttle - it will shift 5 times.

That fifth shift is the torque converter locking, not the 6th gear.

If the tranny is in cold shift mode, it will utilize all 6, and the converter will not lock up until in overdrive. Its conditional on 75 degree fluid and time delay...it usually doesn't stay on too long.

I kin git five up or down shifts with the ZF6 when I want. And I don't haf to worry when the tork converter's gonna lock up. No matter what the temperature is.

PSD 60L FX4 - Matt - thanks for confirming my reported experience of the six speed auto using all six when cold. I would like to say it proves I'm not crazy but that would be going too far - all it proves is that I can count! Kurt

if it were using 6 gears when cold or anytime, u would count 6 rpm changes. that would be 6 gears and one lockup.

the last rpm change u see is the lockup. it seems like a gear change but its not.

i was asking if anyone knew what i was experiencing.... try it sometime and ull see what im talkin about, but i think u all will have to be going about 85 to get the rpm's up enuf to notice it
