PM fefarms see if he has any ideas. If you haven't already, I would check all ground connections and maybe take the computer plug in and out a couple times to make sure it's not just a connectivity issue.
87s without the check engine light are a pain to pull codes on. It is easy to get the voltmeter hooked up wrong or otherwise go awry in your efforts.
Turn the key off. Wait 10 seconds. Turn the key from off to on. Do not attempt to start. Listen carefully. Do you hear the electric fuel pump start, run for two seconds, and then shut off? If you do, the computer is probably OK. Try this several times to confirm.
If the fuel pump does not run at all, there is likely a problem with the power feed to the fuel pump/EEC relays. If the fuel pump starts and runs and does NOT shut off after 2 seconds, the computer is not "booting up", and may be dead.
If you decide to replace the computer, be wary that there are many different calibrations (year specific, I6 vs. V8, automatic vs. Manual). You would ideally like the most up to date calibration for your specific truck. Next best choice is any calibration for your specific truck. Next best is something from a close model year and the same configuration, although this is iffy. Just installing a generic "Ford Computer" is likely to get you a non-functional mis-match between the computer, the engine, and the wiring harness.
see when i turn the truck on the pumps do not come on at all but i can ground the test wire and they work so i know its not the pumps. if i get my computer number could u tell what all computers will work thanks
