hey guys, I just got my dad's 69 f250. he started off by bumper towing and bent the bumper, so when he installed a hitch instead of taking off the bumper and bending it back he cut a peice out of it. well i found some bumpers on dennis capenter and motorhaven, but they don't have pictures and I want to make sure I get the same type of bumper he has on there know since it's original. the truck is styleside and is a ranger camper special with step bumper, can anyone ive me ophions on which bumper I actually want?
i've found 3 sites that sells the rear bumper. dennis-carpenter wants 300, and another site wants 125, both lists the same part number, but what has me confused is that one of the sites lists the bumper has fitting a 67-96. how is that possible, by the way the part number was C8TZ-17906-A
There is a plating company in Tenn. Bumper Boys or Guys (can't remember) that have some good looking bumpers. They go to a lot of shows and carry a ton of bumpers.
> that one of the sites lists the bumper has fitting a 67-96
All the bumpers are just about 79 inches wide for those years. So they use different frame brackets depending on year to match the bumper to the year of the vehicle.
As an example, from what I saw of WEY bumpers when working at dealerships, is they first use a bumper that would fit a Ford E-series van of that year range (because the van bumper mounts over the frame rails) and then use brackets to match that bumper to the trucks. So, they have a bumper that fits everything, vans first because of the wider frame rails and they brackets to fit everything else.
> A lot of the repops available are junk.
I agree, they are especially flimsy at the ends and do not have the internal boxing/webbing that you find on an OEM type bumper. They usually do not have the bottom made from 3/16+ plate steel like the OEM bumper either.
I would look seriously at the Dennis Carp. stuff if quality is important.
