Question Sticky Disty

Anybody have any tricks to get a sticky distributor to rotate. I'd like to take a little advance out of my timing but the distributor just won't budge. I have hit it with Power Blaster about a half dozen times with no luck.

Any suggestions appreciated.

I think you've got the right start, just continue doing it for weeks. If that doesn't work, try this: After soaking it with a good penetrating oil for many a day, (not WD-40) get the engine to operating temp or better. Make sure it's plenty warm. Then spray the shaft of the distributor with some ice cold water from one of those squirty bottles. Try turning the distributor with an oil filter wrench. Tap on the distributor with a rubber mallot or dead blow hammer. You can also loosten up on the distributor hold down bolt and try to gently pry up on the thing to try to get it to move up slightly. Just don't break it.
In the old days people would spray it with R-12 freon to get it really cold.
Or a CO2 fire extinguisher.
Keep working on it and it should finally break free.

Yea, that's pretty much what I've been doing. I had thought about the oil filter wrench but hadn't gotten around to it yet. Cold water is a good idea. I'll give it a try.
Thanks.
