I have been waiting and waiting to find myself the truck that called out my name. I found it yesterday. A 99 crew cab stroker short box. It was a 1 owner with 150k miles. The man must have had it hidden in his pocket because it looks and runs like a new one. I paid 12800 for it. It is 2wd. I live in Mcallen, TX and had to drive it down from Brenham. The truck gave me 21mpg drving 70-75. I think this is excellent fuel mileage. I am in love. Do you guys think it was a good buy for what I paid? I plan on keeping this truck until it croaks.
Well, I just got 16,066.00 for my 99 2WD 7.3 trade in......so yes, that is a decent deal. Lots of miles, but if it has been maintained well, the miles are not too much of an issue. Good luck with your truck and welcome to the 7.3 family!
she is The Emrald Lady...! Maybe call her Esmerelda...? Just kidding... you'll get the name...! Great looking truck... i love that color...! If your planning on running her till she croaks... this might be the last truck you ever buy...! Don't worry about the name... i still don't have one for my 02 blue mule... and i've had her for almost a year...
My older friends are starting to call her the green hornet. I need to think of a name fast. Have you posted a picture of your truck Johnny8? I would like to see it.
i finally got a pic posted in the "post a pic" thread... been awile since i've done this website stuff... but i figured it out.... whatdaya think of my blue mule..?
Nice truck. People ask me if Im a winter texas- just cuz of the clearance lights, but I really like the way they look. Give it more of a truck feel. I really debated 4x4 or not. I would never use it but I know it holds better resale value. I definitely wanted crew cab though. 4 full doors are just so convenient. My rig has been giving me around 16 in the city here. Lots of stop and go traffic. It gave me 21 on the highway so I am happy. How much does the 4x4 sacrifice on your mileage Johnny8?
best i ever got was just over 18, auto tranny doesn't help either...... i'm told with an exhaust and a tuner on the right setting i should get around 20 - 22... if i keep my foot out of it... that's the TOUGH PART..! gotta get some gauges first though... that's on the list for this week...! Wife spent her money on a trip to florida to see her folks... i'm gettin' gauges...! I think i got the better part of that deal...! LOL...!
oh...empiretc... i gotta tell ya... last year im following a buddy up to a campsite.. and halfway there the sun goes down... he looked in his rearview mirror and saw my trucklights and the cablights and the two orange running lights up high on the 5ver that's in my post and he thought it was a semi behind him...! he calls me on the cell phone to ask me why i pulled over... and i'm like "dude... i'm right behind you...!"
Oh HELL YEAH! Didnt have to see the inlaws and your getting gauges! Sounds like an early xmas to me, lol. I keep mine under 2k most all the time when driving, and I dont do hard starts. I know that makes a big difference. I have heard about getting a round downpipe to replace the crimped one from the factory. It is supposed to add about 20 horses and increase fuel economy. I need to look a little more into it though.
