Do your gauges flicker when......
Just after I start my engine and the after glow cycling starts my gauges tend to flicker until the after glow comes off. Is this normal? My charging system is also the craps. What are you guys charging at? At idle I charge at 13.1 and at higher rpm's I charge at 13.9. I've rigged up my own separate wiring harness to rule out the factory harness and it makes no difference in my readings. It also has a new regulator. And I've tried my spare alternator. I just can't get it to charge over 14 volts.

that sounds about right 13vdc is better than 11vdc. how old are your batteries I changed mine every two years regaurdless . you're gauges are flicking because the glow plugs are cycling to provide a faster warm up to get the motor to the proper operating tempeture.

My lights have always flickered and thought this was just normal. It didn't change at all when I replaced the original alternator after 300+ miles. Never had any problem keeping the batteries charged. Since it's just at start up it never really concerned me.
