We went on a Scout campout to the Wichita Mtn's in SW Oklahoma this weekend to work on climbing merit badges. Had a great day climbing and repelling. Then, after the hike back to the trail head, we found that my wife's Suburban had been broken into.
It appears that someone saw one of the boys' Gameboy pouch on the floor, and thought they may score a quick game. Fortunately, I'd stuck the gameboy under the seat, just didn't realize the bag was out. Good thing they didn't look around when they reached in, as my wallet, cell phone and all my cash were within easy reach.
Everything is getting fixed today. Auto Glass Center here in Wichita waived my insurance deductible and will have the window replaced before I get home.
Long story short, no one was hurt & the only damage was the glass. The climbing instructor and Park Ranger felt bad that it happened. I don't blame either of them, and the Ranger even came by camp later that evening to let us know that they were setting up some cameras at a few of the parking areas. He said they had this happen once before, several years ago, and caught the guys. I still think ours was an isolated incident.
Wow bummer man, can't trust your vehicle anywhere it seems. Must have been kids or amatures or they would have looked around. Glad everything and everyone is fine though. Good glass company to wave the deductible.
