If we do Tuttle it will have to be at an area where the boat can get right up to the area where we will be. In other words always within sight of the group. So then if we want to do any off-roading the ones that want will have to drive to the ORV area. Still think it could be setup as maybe a 2 day deal. One day for off-road fun then the ones that want can camp and the next day we do the boating fun. But even a single day would work. Take turns boating and wheeling.
Weather is getting better so this should move forward quickly.
The south end of Tuttle has an Off-Road area for motorcycles and ATV's. How about we do a lake day at the south end and bring the motorcycles and ATV's for a Saturday or maybe even a Friday night/Saturday. Then have Sunday for the full size guys to go play up north.
I'll have plenty of room for riders if someone wants to come up on Sunday and ride.
This poll was for location. Soon as we can get that determined then we can move on to dates.
Del could you check on whats available at the south end? What it costs? If we can reserve an area? If there is a free area? Guess we'd need a place to park the boats and a place to swim. Shade would be nice and tables also. I've only driven by the south end a few times long ago and can't remember much about it.
There is the park on the west side on Tuttle Cove Road. Locals call it goofy, but it has an official name. There is a boat ramp there and a parking area up above with a shelter that could be reserved if not already taken. I can't remember if there is a fee or not, but it shouldn't be too much. As long as we don't go into the swimming and camping area there is no fee. I think the day fee is $5. I'll do some more checking. Below the dam there are also some shelters and parking areas that can be reserved, but there is no direct access to the lake there. There is also a park and boat ramp on the east side of the lake, but that would require park permits or at least day passes. The nice thing about that area is that if it is winding you can still ski because the dam usually helps break the wind. Let me know some potential dates and I'll check on availability. I less familiar with things up in the ORV area as far as lake access for a boat.
is there a date for this yet, i didnt see one. I would be interested in attending if its at tuttle. i have a 660 griz and love to ride trails, sounds like fun to me.
We are still working out the details on this but it should be coming up soon. Keep watch for a date and time.
By the way it's good to see new members posting and we would like to welcome you to FTE and the Kansas Chapter. Jump in and join the fun around Kansas.
I posted another thread for dates. Those that responded seemed to favor waiting until the national event in KC was done and gone.
There are other threads where Rollie, Tony, and Kenny are working on there trucks. Looks like there is a way to go on that also. I'm in that group working on "Jr." but I have "Mule" ready to go anytime.
