SP dongle

Is it true that a malfunctioning EBV sensor (at the front of the engine) can cause the computer to defuel at high rpm? A search on this site shows alot of people (like me) disconnecting this system because of problems with it. If the problem is in part due to this sensor is one of these SP Diesel "dongles" required? Anybody know what these things are?

It sends a fixed signal to the ECM. Yes they work and yes I do use one.

Can some one elaborate on the Dongle thing??? I have never heard of it, or at least what it does.

It gives the ECM a fixed reading for the exhaust drive pressure (back pressure).
