Torque Pro works just fine with the 7.3. There are several threads here with plenty of information to help you get it set up. All sorts of custom PIDs, settings, etc. The bluetooth adapter does matter, though. I have one of the Chinese 8 dollar adapters and haven't had a single issue with it, others haven't been as lucky.
I also use it in my ford focus...which is nice...I added the torque mpg app to my torque pro and it forced me to stay out of the pedal and get my best mpg to date out of the 07 focus... 36.2 mpg on the last tank.
Bought a cheap Bluetooth adapter and it wouldn't connect to ECU. So I upgraded to a BAFX products Bluetooth adapter. Had to uninstall Torque and reinstall it and it connects to ECU but then throws a SES light and truck dies. Unplug it and it starts and runs fine. The first one I tried isn't J1850-PMW compliant. The BAXF one is.
I deleted all PIDS I had set up as that may be why it was dying and throwing a SES light.(Read Tugly's post on setting up PIDS and added ICP, Torque lock, and 2 others I can't recall). I haven't had time to see if stops killing the truck when connected yet after deleting the PIDS. If it doesn't work then may try an MX link but don't want to throw the Buckzooka at it if it doesn't work either.
I'm having a hell of a time getting the settings wheel in the corner of Torque app to get to the menu's. I have to hit it 20 times before it does anything. I may have a corrupted app or my Galaxy note is junk.
Well, Amazon is shipping me one today via Prime, so I'll have it Thursday. I'll let you know what I find out. Cool thing is Amazon returns are suuuuuuuper easy.
