Newbie UK Ford Truck owner, recently purchased a Fleetwood Rv which is strapped to a 1996 E-350 7.5L V8.
Had the serpentine belts both go a month or so ago ( I think the first one to give way derailed the other one), had them both replaced along with the idler pulley (just the pulley not the bracket) and whilst fitting them the mechanic noticed that one belt was sitting not quite aligned, needless to say this has been shredding a little at a time and finally popped today, only controls PS and AC but also routes around water pump and tensioner.
From past experience can anyone suggest the likely cause?
Thanks in advance, not many of these in the UK so it's great to have the combined knowledge of the Forum.
If the belt isn't tracking straight one of the pulleys has to be misaligned somehow. Your mechanic should be able to determine which pulley it is. This could be caused by loose mounting bolts, bent shaft or bad bearings on one of the driven accessories.
I lived in suffolk for four years, I couldn't imagine driving something like that anywhere except on the motorways. I used to drive a crew cab F350 on "B" roads there but at least I could see out of it.
I would first suspect the tensioner(A/C second) if none of the other things on the belt leak and work. All of the accesories listed on this belt will probably leak fliud if the bearings were going.

The mechanic had a quick check when he replaced the belts last time but I don't think he was overjoyed working on it, I need to find myself a more enthusiastic mechanic.
It's not too bad to drive on the "B" roads in fact I am up in the Highlands of Scotland and there are plenty of small roads to enjoy, the unit is only 24ft total and I am getting used to the light steering.

I noticed when ordering the tensioner pulley that you can also replace the bracket, do you think that maybe this could be the cause? There doesn't seem to be any leakage or play in the other pulley's
