My brother had a 352 that he was going to rebuild and went with a 351m instead so he gave me his rebuild kit as a "Christmas present". I had a thought last night and wanting to confirm it with you guys. I already have a cam (Crane 941) and I know the pistons are too small but will the gaskets work? And what about the bearings? There are similarities in the diameter measurements but will the bearings work in a 390 if I have the same over and under specs?

C'mon guys, somebody's got to know something about this. I know the head gaskets won't work either but everything else should be the same, right? If the 352/360/390 are the same block, then all should be good. Talk to me, I need reassurance.
I'm kind of confused as to what you have, and what you're trying to do with it. Are you building a 352, 390, or what? My memory of who is building what is terrible; you should probably keep it all in one thread, or refresh our memory.
If I kept it all in one thread, whoever came along after me to research something would have a book to read. Not that reading is a bad thing. What I'm trying to do is save a couple of dollars. I want to go through my 390 again, put in some good pistons and my new cam. I figure while I'm doing all that, I might as well utilize my friendly neighborhood machine shop. Anyway, my brother gave me a rebuild kit for a 352 that he was going to rebuild but opted out for a 351m. I figure that I can use everything in that kit except the pistons and head gaskets. Depending on the measurements of my crank and rods, I may also be able to use the bearings (but I'm not counting on it). Am I correct in this train of thought?
You should be able to use everything but the pistons, assuming your crank is the same grind as the bearings (.010" under crank, and .010" over bearings, for example). Gaskets should work just fine, but do some checking first. What I mean by that is, make sure the gasket holes are as big as or larger than the thing they're supposed to be sealing. Places I'm thinking of are the intake and exhaust ports. But you should be fine.
