Well it all started when my bro died 2 years ago the found his will 3 months ago i inherited his old ford f 150 87 i6 300. this thing was in bad shape someone stripped the pedal assembly out it sat for nearly 2 years. so when i got it first things first replace the pedal assembly took me 3 weeks to find that set of parts lmc Truck baby, thank god i forund 285 dollars and 2 weeks later me and my friend put it in well we set the cluctch acuator wrong 4 times and it had to be pressed off 4 time we got that done and had to replace starter, altornator, all the bulbs in the whole thing, plugs wires cap, rotor, valve cover gasket, power sterring pump, shifting fork, shifter, fuel gauge , fuel tank selector switch, cigarette lighter, all the ***** and doohickes for the dash, door panels, windows rollers, weather stripping, tailgate, 1 tail light, air filter box, swapped it out for a custom air filter system made by my local exhaust shop. today i decided to turn it over and give it a whoorl, nothing i was almost had a coniption fit, com to find out is has a netrual safety switch so i closed the circuit with an old wire soldered it and call it good fixed the cruise control as well, tried it again 1 time it fied right up i didnt expect it too i about melted in the new buckect seats after 2 years of sitting it fied the first ttry " god I love fords" i said added some fluids and took that babe for a spin with the 8.8 with 3.55 gears and a after market baer differental POSI baby lit both tires up and took off just like the good old days with my older brother thats why i wanted this truck so bad cause for being An i6 300 it had ***** from hell, by the way burned the tire almost to 3 gear. on a 4 speed.
maybe this little short story will help people understand that when you get a truck used or not used keep what it has, thats what makes that certain truck special , the whole time i have been on this forum eveyone told to got wit a 302 or a 351w power dont matter to me i just want this truck to have every thing my brother dreamed on it thats all.
Thanks for everyone in this section of the forum for the support and knowlege if it wasnt for some of theses guys i wouldnt be hear to tell my storie of my truck and thanks for reading.
and im not leaving this forum cause i want to help just like you guys help me.
im glad that everything worked out. Ive had that "god i love fords" feeling once or twice. Like when my truck was half submerged for three days when we finally got it out all we did was tap the starter and drove off.
Gotta love that. tellyathe truth im kinda glad you didn't take my advice and drop a 351 or 460n it. Especially since it fired after it sat for 2 years. inlines are so bad ##s. Most don't beleive me but, i have a 4 speed and spin mine to 3rd gear, and sometimes a little bit in 3rd. Thats something when you use 3.50 gears ls and 12.5 wide tires 35 tall with a stock 6 cyl. I loved it when i out spun my friends dodge 360 and he asked what i had in it and i told him it was a six. The look on his face was amusing to say the least.
today i added a push bar and lights bed rails dimaon plated and a tool box for my fishin / hunting gear got its oil changed and used a can of moto flush i gotta change the oil again in 2 weeks to make sure that moto flush is compltely out of it then i topped the fluids and went fishin and it was sweet bliss let me tell ya for being a 2 wheel drive it sure can climb i got some walmart supersport ht 30x9.5x15 tire ill tell you what i love that brand it a direcctional heavy treaded tire less humming when driving its a dang good tire too i got some on my bronco that has an inline six 300 carb its had then for 7 years and got some decent tred on them my pickup on the other hand has the lowing buckets on the front so it sit low in the front so i had to use a 30 tire wich dont look half bad and dont even rub
here s a question some one might no the answer when i turn on my night lights and i use my passanger signal it dont work but when i dont use my night lights it works any ideas
i have a simliar story...my truck sat for over a year...its an 86F-150 when it was handed down to me, which was before i had a liscense when my old man bought a new truck. Then when i got my liscense we went out to where she was sitting, popped the hood, but it on some jumpers and turned the key and VROOOM fired right up like the day it came off the showroom floor back in 86. That old 300 with 140,000 just purrrrred stuck it in gear and drove it home, my first car was truck
Since then that truck has been drivin hard and put away wet everytime, it was only until lately taht the 19 year old carburator has givin me fits. The 300 is a great engine, dispite what V8 people think and even after i swap it over to a 460 (theres no way i can make a 300 put out what i can make a 460 put out) ill still keep that 300 stored away for a rainy day. Slap a new carb and cam, along with some 240 heads on it while its out of the truck, get some efi manifolds for it and few otehr goodies and she will be a dream machine waitng for me to blow my new 460 up.
its been sitting for since august when i went to college outside under the carport at my parent's house. ill put money on it, it fires up first try when i go home on tuesday.

Well is it just the indicator on the dash that doesn't work or is it both that and the turn signal?
