are the 361/391 engines still considered FE?
what are the differences?
looking at a 69 F-700 and it has a 361 and just wondering about future repairs and maintenance

nope, they are FT engines. They have very low compression, small intake runners, the head ports are smaller, the crank spout is larger, the front cover is matched to the crank snout for size. And they are external balanced. There are more small differences, the bottom line is there no performance in these motors.

never had one, so i don't know how long they last. They have strong block and crankshafts. There oil pump shaft is heavyduty. The low compression is friendly on parts but otherwise i don't know. I'm sure bearings, lifters, and valves all go out at some time or another.

You should be able to get everything you need at any Napa or other local parts store. Be advised they will probably have to order 99% of it, and wont have a clue what you're talking about so be absolutely sure what you need before going in.

If you need more torque, you can swap quite a few parts over from the FE series, let us know.
