I just got back earlier today from going for a ride in the only Ford GT in Australia - it isn't road registered, being LHD - on a private track.
We hit 150mph in some areas, the car just blew me away...
Ok, I'll stop gloating, but it was one of the best experiences I have ever had in a car (and this is from someone who drives a car with over 700hp daily!!!).
When car and driver put it up against the porsche 911 GT3 and the ferarri (forget which model) they said it was the best fun of the 3. It handles great, acceleration is awesome, and it's american V8 powered. The loved it..
C&D had nothing but praise for it. It falls right in the middle of the price range of the other 2 cars, and as usuall they said "Most fun for the money." How were the seats? Would the be comfortable for a long haul? I mean if you decided to go on a loooong drive would it be a nice ride, or walking away sore?
I've never been a sports-car fan, but I have to admit the GT is incredible. Performance, looks, and a PEDIGREE unlike any other- what more could you ask for? The one and only GT our dealer's getting (yes, it's sold) was ordered last May, and was just scheduled for production in June. That's one patient customer!
You guys are lucky...down under. From everything I've read up on, that Falcon UTE is an awsome car/truck/whatever lol. Wish we had that and the diesel Ranger up here. Maybe some day FORD will see the light.
The seats were great, I don't know how good they would be for a long trip, but for our rather enthusiastic laps around a road course they were fantastic.
They appeared to be far more suited to everyday use than ones in a (previous model) Porsche GT3 ClubSport I have also been in.
And yeah they Falcon Ute is good - see my gallery...
If I ever had a GT on order I would be happy to wait a couple of years, BTW anyone want a kidney for a couple of hundred thousand dollars???
Why is it that the best automobiles seem to be down under? This is the land of freedom and opportunity. Our government needs to realize it and let us be free to have machines like those.
